Yep and I am crazy about old Dev Anand movies. Will add more on Monday Parag. I will be out all of today mebbe log for a few mins later in the evening. Hi All

I have collected a few videos of songs of Geeta ji which I will be happy to share on this thread. I have a question.

As per the rules a video snapshot is required for posting a video clip on HF. I am not sure how to take one. I tried to play the video and do a "Print Screen" thing and then paste it in MS Paint, but it does not work.

Can some one please help ?

HT bhai, yes you did. I did read the first 2 lines of your message, but that time I was in office and my office laptop does not have WMM, so it did not strike me that it may be there in the home desktop. So I was pre-occupied with that feeling and I only tried the WMP settings, and they were different.

This cheerful song is from the film Miss Mary. The context of the song gives it a special flavour. Actually Meena Kumari is a girl brought up in christian way..and to get a job in a school, She agrees to act as wife to Ganeshan as the Zamindar family which runs the school wants a couple as teachers. The film is full of funny moments and in telugu it is classic comedy. In the midst of confusion, somehow the wife of Zamindar gets an idea that Meena kumari is carrying and as per Hindu customs, makes the preparations for the Baby shower ceremony. This song is picturised as a group of girls sing and dance around Meena kumari as she sits bedazzled on a revolving deck, with an innocent look on her face. Enjoy this song...with Geeta's lilting voice..and Meena's beautiful look..

The tune of this song is identical to the superhit Gujarathi bhajan "Rakh na ramakada ne" sung by Geeta ji in film Mangal Fera (1950), original tune composed by Avinash Vyas.

The hindi song is a take from Gujarati one.. Can i give my opinion..as to how they happen?
Firstly..the producer of the hindi film might have purchased the song rights of Gujarati film...then, he might have imposed on Music director..that happened many a times in Telugu films...which i came to know through some books written by Lyricists...
Second..The music director himself would have asked Avinash Vyas's permission to take the tune...Even these things did happen here..
I can never imagine plagiarism in those times..especially with in such close proximity..

Venkat, I have highest regards for all the composers of the golden era of HFM. Hence I have edited my previous post. Its very much possible that B R Chopra would have taken permission to use the tune of the Gujarathi bhajan for the song "Tora manawa kyon ghabaraye re"

Great efforts of Sahir sahab, who wrote excellent and meaningful lyrics on this tune

Parag..I am sure that you have only honorable intentions towards MDs of the Golden Era.
Even we had the shock of our lifetime, when a very reputed MD took a tune from Bengali film..and all these years none knew it.. Telugu song is an epitome of love...and if i have to pick ten best of Telugu songs, it will be there. the funny thing is ..in telugu song, Pt. Ravishankar who is a bengali..played Sitar !! So we came to a conclusion that a permission / right was sought which none was aware of ! Quite a revelation..

Can any one please help in identifying this actress on whom the song "Dil hum toh haare" from Ardhangini has been filmed?

She has a striking similarity to Baby Naaz who acted in Guru Dutt's film Kagaz ke Phool released the same year.

The video says that : This song is also having another version sung duet by Ruma Guha Thakurta and Geeta Dutt.

The audio of the above mentioned duet was recently posted on HF.

Will be great if some one can share the video of the same.
