Umeed hai to aap aasman choo sakte ho….” Amitabh Bachchan’s familiar deep baritone will bring in the new season of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) on Star Plus.

The first promo of KBC 2 hits the screen on Monday, May 16 at 9 pm simultaneously, across all Star channels.

Ever since Bachchan signed off with his trademark “lock kiya jaaye” in January 2002, there has been constant speculation about KBC’s return.

The show, which created small screen history (it was Indian television pre-KBC and post-KBC) is finally back with a prize booty of Rs 2 crore.
KBC 2 will be telecast from August 5 on weekends —- Friday, Saturday and Sunday —  at prime time.

The promos will air as a run-up to the call for entries that begin from June 6.

Says producer-director Siddhartha Basu, “KBC 2 will have Mr Bachchan in a more enhanced role. He has appeared in several films post KBC and the viewers are not tied down with any particular image of him. There will be more experiment and variety in his role as quizmaster.”

Basu adds that the ‘Computerji’ has had a dose of the latest technology.
“But the show’s format and set fundamentally remains the same with some value additions,” he says.

KBC will run for 85 episodes from August 2005 to February 2006.

According to Ajay Vidyasagar, senior vice-president, marketing and communications, Star India, “KBC has tremendous recall value. It is not only the participant who plays KBC but also the nation. It is a show that brings the entire family together — from the maid to the head of the family. It had a magnetic influence on everyone.”

This time around, KBC will be more interactive and will include plenty of ‘watch and win’ prizes. Most importantly, it will be easier to register in order to participate.

KBC, the desi version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, went on air in July 2000 on Star Plus. It was pulled off the air for a season’s break in January 2002.

Star had originally planned to launch the new series in December 2002. As a pre-run, The Best of KBC was aired in September 2002.

as i was not 18 when kbc ended...

im GREEN!!!! you have a TV and watched him too.... well no probs soon im going home aur phir main aur mera TV akasar ye baatein karenge……
i can convert my PC to tv but then most of the time im working on my computer so its no use... thanks anyways for the idea...
btw my mama participated in KBC last time and he got selected too he actually met AB but alas! he wasnt quick enough to press the right answer so couldnt go up to the hot seat.... but best of luck to you... do tell us when your show will be telecasted we will make sure to watch and pray for you...
