Friends,

This morning, I was flipping through channels on my TV and suddenly was agape, listening to Rekha singing in her own voice the divine Rafi solo, "Din Dhal Jaaye Haaye Raat Na Jaaye" originally from Film:Guide-1965.

I went on listening to her complete rendition. She had sung the Maestro's song fairly well! I knew the other dimensions, but never knew this musical 'dimension' of the controversial Rekha!!

Later, I found that it is in a 2006 Film called "Kudiyon Ka Zamana Hai".

Even later, I found that she told Times News, after that 2006 recording, that Rafi Saab is her great favorite singer and that none can sing like Rafi.

I am uploading here this very interesting Rekha version of 04:34 duration.

I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

Friends,

How about converting this topic into "Rafi Songs Sung By Others In Hindi And Other Films"? It should be great fun discussing it. smile.gif

To start the ball rolling, I know one hilarious comedy Film:Biwi O Biwi(1981), produced under RK banner, starring Randheer Kapoor, Sanjeev Kumar, Poonam Dhillon, etc.

In this Film, in one situation, Rajendra Nath keeps chasing Randheer Kapoor up and down the stairs of a tall building. While chasing, Rajendra Nath keeps frequently bumping into a comical Rishi Kapoor wearing Kurta/Pajama and chewing paan.

This Rishi Kapoor keeps singing in his own voice the famous semi-classical of Rafi Saab from Kohinoor(1960), "Madhuban Mein Radhika Naachhe Re"! And whenever Rajendra Nath bumps into him, he starts the song's comical Aalaap (picturised on Mukri in the original Kohinoor!)!! biggrin.gif

In Film:Padosan(1968), it is a beautiful Rafi song coming on Radio that gives the idea to Kishore Kumar that he should sing while Sunil Dutt is lipping!!

While the group keeps thinking as to how to raise Sunil Dutt in the esteem of Saira Banu, suddenly a Rafi song comes on Radio. And the song is "Anchal Mein Sajaa Lena Kaliyan, Zulfon Mein Sitaare Bhar Lena" from Film:Phir Wohi Dil Laaya Hoon(1963), composed by O.P.Nayyar. smile.gif

Venkat-ji,

In the film Guddi, there is a scene with Dharmendra and Jaya that has "Tujhe jeevan ke dor se" (Asli Naqli) playing in the background.

Yes, PA Ji. I too remember so. But, I think there are a couple of other Rafi songs also that are heard in 'Guddi'. For instance, any SJ-Rafi song from 'Pyar Hi Pyar'? Anyone can throw light?
