This song has a particular significance for old-time listeners of Radio Ceyon who used to play this on New Year's day (and perhaps on the first of every month).

So, here's wishing a great start to the New Year for all fans of Kishore-da, with the special occasion expressed in his own voice:

Bimal Roy had been a film-photographer and director in Calcutta in the 30's and 40's. After the collapse of New Theatres, he migrated to Bombay where he directed his first Hindi movie, "MAA" (1952) produced by Ashok Kumar's company, Bombay Talkies.

Here is a song from this film, rendered by Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar and chorus:

Dr Unni had supplied the links to this interview of Kishoreda, in which he paid his tribute to SD Burman.
Must listen for all Guru and SD Burman fans... for, indeed, all music fans.
I'm uploading the interview here. Thanks are due to Kaustubh Pingle, who had supplied the interview to sdburman.net.

imjagdish, the interview can be downloaded from this page as well:

It's a wonderful tribute by Guru, what an obituary should be... heartfelt and remembering the best times spent together.
