Some pics of a visit to a fishing camp. On the banks of the river Cauvery. A two hour drive 100 KM from Bangalore. A great spot to go to to chill out and get away from the madding crowds. A lot of things to do here...Nature treks, coracle rides, outdoor camping and amateur fishing. Or just take a book to read, lying on the hammocks...
The Mahseer fish from here is apparently among the largest freshwater fish to be found in the wolrd. Being an endangered species, even if one catches a Mahseer, you are not allowed to take the catch back home! After the photos are taken the fish has to be released back into the water! One may come across crocodiles if they are lucky ;-) From a choice of 3 fishing camps (Bheemeshwari, Doddamakkali and Galibore). All three have the options of overnight camping or for a day visit. However, bookings are to be done well in advance for their overnight campings.
