Room,
As u all know, Sonu started his Carrier as Copycating Rafi Saheb, like many other Singers(Mahendra Kapoor, Mohd Aziz,Anwar) to name a few........ But according to me if v exclude Kapoor Saheb(as he is the Only "Shagird" of Rafi Saheb, only Sonu fulfill the Requirement to be a Full Fledge Singer and a person 2(Rafi Saheb was a Gem of a singer and Person) leaving every1 far behind(V can only THINK of Anwar, but he is lagging far behind- thanks to his passion for WineS! ) So can v rate sonu as Rafi Saheb's Best Clone or Will there b new ones? Hope to hear a lot from u all More to come............. ...Pawan "Mujh ko mere baad , Zamaana Dhudenga..................."

allow me to add my view guys...i apologise if i have hurt any of your sentiments
rafi sahab had too many qualities in his voice for one singer to be able to copy them all......but several singers have tried bit by bit for eg, softness- anwar and vipin used to get the tender gentle expression of rafi sahab fairly well high pitch intensity- mohd aziz and at times shabbir kumar were good on the high tones, but they had rough voices on lower pitches, and where singing demanded soft expression sonu nigam, well, i think sonu is the worst rafi clone ever...but then, thats why he is the most successfull among them all. by integrating the siniging styles of several singers (including sanu da), he has come up with his own 'original' style to an extent this also applies to kumar sanu, who is probably worse at singing kishore kumars songs than abhijeet and babul are......but thats why he is the most successful, and has been able to formulate his own unique style of singing (softness like rafi on the lower pitches, nasal touch like mukesh on the intense high pitch...with a 'dard/senti' effect)...added to the mature quality of kishore da's voice CONCLUSION: the worse 'clone' you are, the better your chances are of progressing as a singer in this industry, otherwise the label will never leave you to an extent, if you have a voice different from the singer you copy (sonu's voice is harder than rafi's while sanu da's voice is softer and more nasal than kishore's), and still you manage to pull youself off as a clone, then i guess that also proves your talent at voice modulation , which also helps in progression of career......apart from helping you develop a unique singing style of your own KS fanclub website
