A thread on this prolific composer/singer should invite some connoisseurs
![]() To begin with, would anyone have Sudhir Phadke's 'aaj raani poorvichi tee preet tu maagu nako' ? Self - belief is the most potent force.

Just the singer Mandrakeji!!!!
If Ashaji decides to sing in Afrikaans I listen to Afrikaans!!! Simple. ![]() I have a lot of her Bangla numbers also all her Marathi songs available on hamaracd and collected from elsewhere, Gujarati songs, Punjabi (tho not enough barring what Antji kindly uls for me), a handful in other languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Assamese, Nepalese, Kashmiri and so on. Regarding Marathi I understand just a wee bit. Say 5 %. But Ashaji has just so many fanstastic songs in the language--can one help getting hooked? Love her songs for Sudhir Phadke, Vasant Desai, HM, so many others and also love her natyasangeet. Do I try to understand? Yes I do. That does not mean I succeed. Sometimes friends translate. With her Gujju songs Chitz and another friend on yahoo sks translated the entire lot--otherwise I get someone to give me the gist. One song I do wish translated is bhogale je dukh from Ritu Hirawa (not entirely inappropriate on this thread) as Ashaji has said she identifies with it. Just know the first 2 lines' gist. ![]() ![]() |
