I have been wondering how is it that we dont have a sub forum for a great musician like Jaidev under Legendary Music Directors? Jaidev has given us some most amazing, heart touching music in movies like Kinare Kinare, Prem Parbat, Joru Ka Bhai, Ek thi Reeta, Ek Hans ka Joda, Hum Dono, Reshma Aur Shera, Alaap, Chand Grahan, Gaman, Mujhe Jeene Do, Do Boond Pani, Maan Jayiye, Tumhare Liye, Dooriyan to name a few as well non film music Is there a method or process to request that a sub forum in honour of Jaidev be started with the board members of HF? Bhavita Joy, sorrow, tears, lamentation, laughter — to all these music gives voice, but in such a way that we are transported from the world of unrest to a world of peace, and see reality in a new way, as if we were sitting by a mountain lake and contemplating hills and woods and clouds in the tranquil and fathomless water. - Albert Schweitzer Without music life would be a mistake - Friedrich Nietzsche Where words fail, music speaks - Hans Christian Anderson Music is spiritual. The music business is not - Van Morrison |

Music-Directors/Composers Jaidev Place of Birth Ludhiana, India Genre Music Composer / Music Director - Film Brief Biography | Discography | Awards | Trivia/Quotes Biography Jaidev is an award winning music composer in the hindi film industry. Jaidev built a reputation as a sensitive composer who did not compromise on the quality of music for commercial acclaim. When he was 15, in 1933, he ran away from Ludhiana to Bombay to become a movie star. But he was forced to return to Ludhiana due to his father's blindness. While he was in Bombay, Jaidev studied music from Krshnarao Jaokar and Janardan Jaokar. In 1943, Jaidev went to Lucknow right after his sister’s wedding and continued music training from Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. He was an assistant to Ali Akbar Khan for the 1951 movie, Aandhiyan and Hum Safar. Later, Jaidev became S. D. Burman's assistant from the movie Taxi Driver onwards. Jaidev’s first chance to become an independent music director was in Chetan Anand's Joru Ka Bhai, after which he also composed music for Chetan's Anjali. Both the movies became huge hits. With classic songs like 'Allah Tero Naam, Ishwar Tero Naam' sung by Lata and 'Abhi Na Jao Chhodkar', sung by Asha Bhosle and Mohammad Rafi, the movie, Hum Dono propelled Jaidev into the limelight. Movies like Kinare Kinare, Reshma Aur Shera, Alap, Prem Parbat, Gaman and Ankahee were hits only because of Jaidev’s excellent music direction. Unfortunately, most of the films he composed music for, bombed at the box office and producers considered him good enough only for small-budget films.
