My two cents worth in this great pairing of Rafi Sahab with O P Nayyar.

The two were a great pair, but there was a brief split in the 60’s, when Rafi Sahab reportedly arrived late for a recording. This upset O P Nayyar, who was a stickler regarding time, and Rafi Sahab’s explanation that he got stuck in another recording only angered him further. Apparently he paid off Rafi Sahab’s dues right then and their in front of the shocked assistants, and then swore not to sing with him (which he did not).

It was around four years later that they patched up, when Rafi Sahab rang up OPN and apologized, and OPN burst out crying saying that his (OPN’s) ego would not have allowed it, and only Rafi sahab was great enough to do this.

Despite the pairing again, I personally feel that O P Nayyar was not the same MD after the tiff (I think during Bahren Phir bhi aayenge) and he has also acknowledged the same in an interview.

Anyway am uploading some more songs that I have of this great pair, including my personal favorite from “ Hum Sab Chor Hain” where Rafi Sahab tried to resurrect the career of his idol, G M Durrani.
