Ghulam Ali - Badshah-E-Ghazal
Ghulam Ali was born into a musical family. His father was a sarangi player as well as a vocalist. Ali was trained by Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan and his three brothers. Ghulam Ali started singing for Radio Lahore in 1960. He has been a prolific singer and is very popular aside from Pakistan, his native country, in India as well. He has a large following through out the ghazal loving world. Of late, Ghulam Ali is releasing only a few albums a year. He is concentrating on giving more live concerts traveling all around the world. The main instruments he uses for these concerts is a harmonium, that he usually plays, and an accompanying tabla. His use of other instruments is to complement the sounds of his music but he makes sure that it is his voice that is in control and not the instruments. He released over 200 albums and sang several thousands of ghazals. In the next few months, I will share of some of these albums with you. Here is "Aap Ki Pasand" ... Please take your time, Swarapriya. I am in no hurry. Besides I have not even managed to hear all the songs at least once from the treasure you have shared. Thank you very much for sharing the Punjabi albums too.
Kind regards, MKH |
