When I turned up at the hotel with a photographer, (i am a journalist) Rafi Sahib was wearing a kameez and lungoti. Rafi Sahib was a family friend. My father told me: "Uncle se hath milao". As I was sitting across the other side of the room and was about to get up, Rafi Sahib himself stood up and walked across the room to shake hands. "Kaise ho bete. Bohat bure sahafi bun gaye ho." he told me in his husky voice. I have pics of myself with Rafi Sahib holding me as a baby!
He got changed into a suit for the pics, and with a child like innocence asked me:"Mein ghari pehn loon?". Rafi Sahib loved watches and had a huge collection. His other passions incidentally were badmington, which he played everyday at his home with family and friends, and driving. He would often drive around Bombay at night to relax and get away from his unhappy family life! Anyway, Rafi Sahib posed for several snaps including one with a telephone, which was his own suggestion. I'll post that later. I ermember the English photographer saying to me: "You sure this bloke is a star? He's just so sweet and down to earth. It's like photographing a young child!" Meanwhile look at this pic which captures his innocence. Regards Mazher Mahmood Attached image(s) ![]() |

Mazher-bhai, thanks for the terrific picture!
To view the picture faster and in full, I've modified the size to fit on the monitor screen: If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.
