Bimal Roy had been a film-photographer and director in Calcutta in the 30's and 40's. After the collapse of New Theatres, he migrated to Bombay where he directed his first Hindi movie, "MAA" (1952) produced by Ashok Kumar's company, Bombay Talkies.
Here is a song from this film, rendered by Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar and chorus: If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.
