The Moon the wiki says is" Earth's only natural satellite" and the visible face of the Moon is as seen in the image below



however, the Moon in our Indian poetry is given a different connotation and has multifarious roles and has been given importance in all the Nava Rasas

1. It is given the status of Mama and is hence referred to as Chandamama .
