Shammi Kapoor - His Movies & His Songs

Shammi Kappor has been in the movie industry for a very very long time. He first appeared in 1953 in "Thokar" when he was 22. Since then he acted in over 130 movies. Though he struggled initially as an actor, after marrying another actress (Geetabali), his life changed forever under her able guidance. From a commercial also ran to he became a sought after atcor.

I am starting this new series on Shammi. I have many of his movies in CDs. I am missing some of them from his early years, and may be one or two from the later years. I would like to share these songs with you in coming months and invite the members to share any missing songs to complete the albums.

Naqab (1955)

This 1955 movie costarred the beautiful Madhubala with Shammi. But as rest of his earlier movies, it also met the familiar fate. It was a commercial failure.

In an interview Shammiji gave recently, he remembers vividly that he was shooting for this movie in Poona at Prabhat Studios. Dilip Kumar Saab was wooing Madhubala at this time and all the tabloids were abuzz with this story and it was no secret. He would drive down from Bombay to meet her often. On an Eid day, Shammiji recalls, Dilipji who was shooting for Gemini's "Insaniyat" in Madras, decided to take some time off from shooting to spend time with Madhubala in Bombay having her take some time off too to spend time together with him.

This movie has 12 songs. I have only three of them that I am uploading here. Missing songs are shown in red italics in the table below. My appeal to the Forum members to share these missing songs if they have them.
