Recently, I drove to South Dakota. This was my 3rd visit to this beautiful state. I went with my son to Rapid City, which is nestled in the Black Hills Area. It is named for the dark appearance given by the mountains' thick covering of pines.
The 1st photo is Mount Rushmore National Memorial in the Black Hills. The sculptor, Gutzon Borglum chose this mountain for its granite face and with a team of 400 people, carved the faces of 4 presidents( George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln) with perfection. Each face is 60 feet high. This post has been edited by lakshmi: Aug 25 2008, 06:08 AM Attached image(s) |

Thanks Exon. The plaza is is in Kansas City , Missouri. I will add more pictures of plaza later. It is a must see in Kansas City. I used to live in San Francisco in early 1980s. Nice city. Saw many beautiful sights. Here is a photo of San Francisco(Bay area) from Lombard street, the crookedest street. Attached image(s) |
