mohd bhai and urzung khan sahab, all songs in rajkumari's voice were released on columbia and shamshad begum's on HMV. regards, mahesh There is one thing more. In the movie, Rajkumari's voice was used for songs picturised on Nargis and Shamshad's voice for Veena. that's confusing. the songs picturised on nargis were- 1]-ae chand tu bata de, 2]-meri duaaon ka yarab asar dikha dena, 3]-rasme ulfat kisi soorat se nibhaye na bane i had uploaded the film versions about two years back.i had mentioned the singer of the above songs as rajkumari;when mahesh bhai had corrected me and identified the voice as shamshad begum's. here is the link- http://www.hamaraforums.com/index.php?show...pid=486039& its to be noted that voice and style of shamshad begum and rajkumari is very different from their typical style. mohd bhai has uploaded the film versions, can someone clear the confusion for these three songs[film version]! isaac muzavar[a noted hindi/urdu film music jounalist]had mentioned in one of his articles on suraiya that she had sung version songs for humayun and shama.of course, nobody, including akbar shah doesn't have any idea about these songs[from humayun] regards, mahesh This post has been edited by smahesh: Apr 13 2008, 11:30 AM |

What I have said here is more or less what I had said in my post(s) in another thread two years ago, the URL of which you have given above. 1]-ae chand tu bata de, 2]-meri duaaon ka yarab asar dikha dena, 3]-rasme ulfat kisi soorat se nibhaye na bane 4]-donon ko hi bigdi qismat ne The above four songs were picturised on Nargis and Rajkumari's voice was used in the movie sound track. A thread on this topic also appeared rec.music.indian.misc [rmim] 2/3 years back. By the way, somebody should tell Mr Isaac Muzavar that in the case of Humayon, Suraiya did not record version of any of its songs as per record catalogs of HMV and Columbia. Shama is a different case. Initially Columbia had issued 78rpm record set resung as per practice in vogue then. Soon thereafter another 78rpm record set based on the movie sound track was also issued by HMV. Record numbers can be found in Geet Kosh. Suraiya's versions came later on HMV disks. -urzung khan |
