Another rare album of the 40's from the khazana of Mahesh !
Thanks a lot for sharing these gems. CR (Ramchandra Chitalakar) was one the most successful music director from Maharashtra in Hindi Film industry. I have read an incident which is during the time when songs of Anarkali (?) were a huge hit. CR was discussing with a friend (Actor Gajanan Jahagirdar), and he said see how these south Indian MD's like C Ramchandra are making a great name, not knowing that he was talking to the same legendary MD. (I think CR was working closely with some important banners from south, like AVM, that could be another reason, he choosing to call himself C Ramchandra.) When he used to sing a song, he used to use only his last name, Chitalakar. Just some small snippets of information I thought of sharing Thanks Mahesh once again Cheers Parag Please visit www.geetadutt.com

First my thanks to Maheshji for Sangram songs.
Sukeshji, you may be right in what you are saying. Here is why: C. Ramchandara composed for eight South Indian made Hindi movies, all but one appeared in 50's. Filmistan's Anarkali was released in 1956. CR composed music for Pakshiraja's Azad (1955), Devta (1956), M.V. Raman's Aasha (1957), L.V. Prasad's Sharada (1957), Shivaji's Amardeep (1958), and Gemini's Paigham (1959). Only 60's film he composed music for a South Indian Hidi film was Prakash Rao's Bahurani (1963). Sripur |
