Friends,
It was only after I joined HF that I came to know this. There are at least twelve pairs of Rafi Saab's songs which are almost identical in tune. PAIR-I: 1. "Ek Chameli Ki Mandwe Tale"--Film: Cha Cha Cha(1964)---MD:Iqbal Quereshi--Rafi and Asha 2. "Aaj Mausam Ki Masti Mein Gaaye Pawan"--Film:Banarasi Thug(1962)---MD:Iqbal Quereshi---Rafi and Lata PAIR-II: 1. "Tu Hind Bane Ya na Musalmaan Banega, Insaan Ki Aulad"---Film:Dhool Ka Phool(1959)---MD:N.Datta---Rafi 2. "Kya Kya Na Sitam Tujh Pe Huve Mehlon Ki Raani"---Film:Mohini(1957)---MD:N.Datta---Rafi Incidentally, within each of these Pairs, the MDs are the same! Firends, please let me know if you know any other such almost identical pairs. Mind you, only almost identical pairs. Not similar pairs, of which there are plenty! Venkat P.S. Another seven or eight pairs have been discovered in the following posts! This post has been edited by venkat: Sep 14 2010, 06:25 PM I have changed many views in life since my childhood, but not my view of Rafi Saab as the God-sent Gandharva who visited this Earth briefly to spread ultimate ecstasy among genuine music-lovers!

Good find - PA - they are indeed identical !! And thanks to Venkat for starting off this interesting search. 1964 was the period when SDBurman was laid up...he stopped taking up new films and and had difficulty in completing his films on hand. It is possible that faced with this situation, this idea may have occurred to someone - to use an old (and not so well known) tune fitted with new words - with the approval ( or not !! ) of the producer/director. ![]() Sri "Jis din is duniya se nafrat aur khudgarzi mit jaayegi, us roz yeh insaan naachega, us roz yeh dharti gaayegi" - Rajinder Krishan (Maa baap 1959)
