Hello friends,

I want to thank you all for your condolences and prayers. My father's passing was a great jolt to our family and one that is still reverberating in us all. It will probably go on for a very long time. In all this though, there has come a sense of greater purpose that I and my family would like to pursue. We are going to try and form a non-profit family foundation to house and carry on my father's legacy. His books and recording will be have a home that we hope will live on forever. Plans are under way and we are seeking the advise of the legal system on how to do this. We hope to have it launched in a year or so. Presently I am trying to collect everything. Seeing the colossal nature of this work, it will take a lot of effort and a good deal of help to finish and put out into the world.

I urge you to not stop your dialog on this forum. By your continued efforts to share his songs and history here, you gave him a new life. Let us continue this and give life to his spirit making it live on forever.

Thank you and God Bless!

Ashwin Batish

Glad to see you here again, Ashwin - welcome back

I appreciate what you have said. Yes, we must carry on the search for re-discovering his music even though we have lost the possibility of getting valuable insights from your father who was right in the middle of a great period of Hindi film music. I still remember fondly, your video recording of him speaking about the music of the film Bahu Beti and about Geeta Dutt etc., - which you so kindly shared with us. He was discussing the events of those days as if they were fresh in his mind...and one could sense his passion for the music of that period, as he was breaking into song every now and then! If you have any other recordings - please do share them too.

The legacy of S D Batish should be preserved....and I commend your efforts in that direction.

I am sure that our members here - who have immense capabilities in this regard - will support your initiative whole-heartedly.

.

Best wishes,

Sri

Thank you Sri. I did manage to get a few more comments recorded with him and I will be sure to include them here as I get them into the computer. Again, I and my father really appreciated the frank and open nature of this forum and I do request all the members to not hold back and send me directly or post your collection of my father's songs so that I may archive them on his site. I will be starting the process in the very near future.

Best wishes,
Ashwin Batish
