Hi All,
With a decent response to the two threads on the same theme (with songs from the 40's and the 50's respectively), I am starting a new thread with songs of Geeta ji from the 60's and 70's. As all of us are aware, Geeta ji sang relatively lesser number of songs in the 60's due to many personal problems. As I have said before, most of the songs I will be posting on this thread are originally shared by many generous members of HF. I will be doing a compilation of Geeta ji's songs. Hoping for a good response for this thread as well. ![]() Cheers Parag Please visit www.geetadutt.com

Opening this thread, 2. Giving me the chance of listening to wonderful song "Lat Uljhi Hai_Geeta Dutt_Insaan Aur Insaan _1970" This is the first time I have ever listened to Geeta Dutt songs from 1970's. And, I have only been surprized that I could not recognize Lady's sound in the song "TALAT MAHMOOD & GEETA DUTT - Tumsa meet mila MIDNIGHT film made in Britain in 1972". The female singer's sound just does not look like Geeta for me! Please listen to it carefully and comment on this... |

Hi Kistin, I completely agree with you on what you said about the song "Tumsa meet mila" from the movie Midnight. Now remember that after the death of Guru Dutt, Geeta ji had heavily drowned herself in alchohol. Her voice was severely affected. There was no more "Riyaz" and the singing assignments were almost none. I believe, by 1970, the singing career of Talat saab was almost at the end. Subir Sen had composed the music for this movie and he invited these two talented (but neglected by the HFM industry) artistes to sing this duet. Whenever I listen to any song of Geeta ji at the end of her career, my heart is filled with so much sadness. A beautiful and talented melody queen went through so much grief and pain in her last years. This heavily reflected in her voice. In spite of all I wrote above, Geeta ji's voice in the songs of Anubhav is really much softer, thinner and sweeter than what we hear in the song "Tumsa meet mila". Only experts can give better explaination of this.. Parag Please visit www.geetadutt.com

But, it seems that, she was not always at that mood , because in some of the songs one can still hear her special nice timbre as we used to. Kistin |
