Hi friends,
In forty years of bollywood career, Guru has virtually sung with every singer who appeared on the scene during that period....104 male singers and 83 female singers to be precise (this includes songs with multiple singers on a song as well as non-singers lending their voice for some dialogues within the song...like Shtarughan Sinha having some dialogues in Jwalamukhi song Paan Bidi Cigarette Tambakoo Na Sharaab, Humko To Nasha Hai Mohabbat Ka Janab).... Various database on these Jodies created along the way of discussions on this thread has been indexed as under: INDEX OF DATABASE CREATED ALONG THE WAY Description_____________________________________________Post No. 1. List of Duets with Rafi-------------------------------------------------------019 2. List of Duets with Pankaj Udhas--------------------------------------------009 3. List of Duets with Danny Dengzopa----------------------------------------013 4. List of Male co-singers of Guru---------------------------------------------022 5. List of Duets with Mukesh------------------------------------------------073 12. List of Songs by Guru picturised on Vijay Arora--------------------------126 13. List of Songs by Guru composed by OP Nayyar--------------------------137 14. List of Songs by Guru and Amit Kumar-----------------------------------145 15. List of Songs by Guru under RD Burman's music-------------------------177 Here, i intend putting up some of the chosen few songs with these singers (to the extent that i have the songs)...of course some of them might be the ones which i got from this very forum courtesy our fellow-members.... i start with Bhupendra, who, while, is not as versatile as Guru, but i do like the heaviness and depth of his voice... (i) Achchhi Achchhi Pyari Pyari Film: Trimurty 1974 Singers: KK, Bhupinder, Nitin Mukesh Duration: 03:26@128 (ii) Duki Pe Duki Ho Film: Satte Pe Satta 1981 Singers: KK, Asha, Bhupinder, RD Duration: 04:06@128 (iii) He Mujhe Dil De Film: Mr. Romeo 1973 Singers: KK, Asha, Bhupinder, RD Duration: 05:54@128 Incidentally MD for all these is RD....he definitely liked Bhupinder a lot....may be because Guru's default pitch and Bhupinder's pitch were very close...as were Manna Dey's and Yesudas's....but then Guru was Guru...he could mould his voice, its pitch and throw depending upon the situation in the movie and the mannerism the actor...many are greats but then only a few are genious.. eskayes eskayes

Hallmark of every successful personality (or for that matter entity) has been to respect, admire and invite competition....the successful have thrived on competition...competition has brought out the best in them....and competition has augured the best for their patrons too...
What better example of this could be there for us, the hindi music lovers, than the fact that the most successful of male singers in our entire bollywood history...the TRIMURTY....Kishore, Rafi and Mukesh.....were actually the most ardent admirers of their counterparts (competition) in this Trimurty....So, while KK admired Rafi and Mukesh, they in turn admired the other two.... I have already written about the mutual admiration shared by Kishore and Rafi earlier in this thread... KK had gone on record saying that he was a big fan of Rafi and loved to listen to his songs...Rafi, on his part, had mentioned in an interview that amongst his contemporaries, Kishore Kumar sings very well and hamesha hi sur mein gaate hain.... And what does Mukesh have to say about these two??? This is what Mukesh's son, Nitin Mukesh, writes about his father in an article...{Quote}He simply adored Rafisaab and Kishore Kumarji. He said if Kishore Kumar so wanted, 'usne to kabki hum sabki chhutki kardi hoti'.{Unquote}... I had started out writing this piece now with an intention to discuss more about KK and Mukesh as a Jodi....but i see that it has already become quite long....so may be will dwell at length on their singing jodi in a subsequent post.... For now, i just want to leave you with the thought of admiration and appreciation of your competition...which i seem to get so strongly from these singing Greats who we all adore...as true fans of our idols, it would be great if we could imbibe such simple lessons that these Greats have left behind for us.... Those who have looked down upon their competition have so often found themselves in a position where they had only themselves to blame....history is evidence to it....... And those who forget history are condemned to repeat it...i sign off this post with this famous saying... eskayes

So after 110 views to the posts that just went by
![]() Lots of similarities between KK and Mukesh....both, handsome guys, started out as singer-cum-actors....only to concetrate solely on singing at latter stages...from Nirdosh in 1941, Mukesh acted in some 6-7 movies...like KK, he too started out singing in KL Saigal style....just speaks of how great Saigal was to have influenced two of the all time greatest male singers in the industry to such an extent... What has been surprising, though, is that these two greats sang very few songs together...just 10 songs... and just 2 of them pure duets... ![]() ![]() Here is the complete list of KK-Mukesh songs... 1 Haal Chaal Dheek Dhaak Hai ------- Mere Apne ------- 1971 ------- Duet 2 Tu Kehta Hai Mujhko Chadhee Hai ------- Kabeela ------- 1976 ------- Duet 3 Zindagi Hai Kya Bolo Zindagi Hai Kya ------- Satyakaam ------- 1969 ------- Alongwith Others 4 Ye Kaisa Aaya Zamana ------- Humjoli ------- 1970 ------- Alongwith Others 5 Tik Tik Tik Tik Chalti Jaaye Ghadi ------- Kal Aaj Aur Kal ------- 1971 ------- Alongwith Others 6 Ik Din Bik Jayega Maati Ke Mol ------- Dharam Karam ------- 1975 ------- Alongwith Others 7 Tere Humsafar Geet Hain Tere ------- Dharam Karam ------- 1975 ------- Alongwith Others 8 Dekh Ke Tumko Dil Dola Hai ------- Amar Akbar Anthony ------- 1977 ------- Alongwith Others 9 Parda Parda Hai Parde Ke Peechhe ------- Amar Akbar Anthony ------- 1977 ------- Alongwith Others 10 Janeman Janeman Jaane Jaan Ho Aaj Meharbaan ------- Chor Mandali ------- Incomplete ------- Alongwith Others The list includes one unreleased song from an incomplete film Chor Mandali.... I upload here my favourite song of the duo....I have a feeling I have uploaded this earlier too...but allow me to do so since that would have been some time back...i find this song so very contexual and relevant even today though more than a genaration has passed since the song was released in 1971..
