Since I plan to upload a few, I thought it prudent to begin anew. I can upload files upto 20 mb at a go, what would the majoriy prefer multiple smaller files or fewer larger files? I could reduce the file sizes too by compromising on quality / screen size.
Current theme Dances. This is the beautiful Amrapali (Vyjanthimala) - a dance competition. All the dances in this movie were amazing. The movement, expression, grace - a visual feast. Yes indeed, she looks stupendously seductive. But somehow I don't recall much controversy about the attire at that time, though I would have been just about 11 so may have missed what the grown-ups were discussing. I think these period type costume dramas were given some liberties. There used to be a kids' story magazine called Chandamama which used to carry period-stories and the women were similarly attired (especially the Apsaras and Vishkanyas!). Thanks for the great quality. My pleasure (kya naam se pukare aap ko?) Yep, I do remember those comics and that attire, but I also remember women wearing body stockings under the revealing costumes (e.g. Waheeda in Piya Tose), including Helen in some of her dances. Fortunately, the song's been done very tastefully! Vyjanthimala felt very conservative in whatever else I have seen of her movies, hence the surprise I expect. Wasn't that much of a surprise when I saw Sharmila sashaying to "leja leja mera dil" in an Evening in Paris in cabaret attire. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() But definitey in those days it must have caused a riot!!!!!!!!!!!
