Yesterday I've started on my blog sort of a radio show and titled it - The 5'O Clock Show. I've kept it for a max of 30 minutes daily. If I have some topic, I'll speak out or I'll simply play 5 to 6 songs. I am not limiting myself to old (my fav) ; I'll blend the show with talks - all that is happening around me, Indian music .. old, new, ghazals, dialogues, humor, clips from other radio shows and everything that I can possibly think of.

If you have any questions, dedications, sandes as well you could PM me. I'll post the script of each session and the name of the songs that I played, on this thread. So the members who have missed the show can read through it and shout at me.

Due to various network congestion issues, I'll stream this show in 48kbps ACC+ Format. To listen you will have to use the latest version of winamp and enjoy high cd quality audio.

Aaj ham Khursheed Bano ke gaaye huve chand gaanon ko sunte hein. Khursheed Bano ka asli naam hai Irshad Begum. Unka janam April 14, 1914 mein Choonian gaon, lahore mein huyi thi. Unhone apna career 1931 mein Sheela film se shuru kiiya tha. Jaisa ke aap sab ko pata hai, usi saal bharat ki peheli takie film Alam Ara release huyi thi. Chaliye abhi 1940 ke Musaphir film se yeh gana Khursheed ji ki awaaz mein sunte hein.

Khurshid did a number of movies for Ranjeet Movietone and her leading men included famous actors like K.L.Saigal, Motilal, and Jairaj. Musafir and Holi in 1940, Pardesi, Beti, and Shaadi in 1941. Bhagat Surdas, Chandni and Patola (Punjabi) in 1941. Tansen and Nurse in 1943. Tansen with music composed by legendary Khem Chandra Parkash was a very successful film of her career. Khursheed migrated to Pakistan after independence, with her husband Lala Yakub who was an occasional actor and a member of the Bhati Gate Group Lahore. She worked in two films in Pakistan, Fankaar and Mandi, in 1956. She left her husband Yakub due to some personal problems and remarried in 1956, to one of her admirer who was in the shipping business and his name was Yusuf Miyan. There after she appeared in few PTV shows. A number of private shows were also held by her admirers and private institutions, which were attended by her. This is Pehele Jo Mohobbat Se from Pardesi.

She was among the two singing actresses of Hindi Film industry who have shared stellar honors with the renowned singer K.L.Saigal. Another fortunate one to share this honour was the famous actress cum singer, Suraiyya. Khursheed died on 18th April 2001 in Karachi, Pakistan, at the age of 87 years and thus an era of talent in terms of acting and singing, came to an end.
