Yesterday I've started on my blog sort of a radio show and titled it - The 5'O Clock Show. I've kept it for a max of 30 minutes daily. If I have some topic, I'll speak out or I'll simply play 5 to 6 songs. I am not limiting myself to old (my fav) ; I'll blend the show with talks - all that is happening around me, Indian music .. old, new, ghazals, dialogues, humor, clips from other radio shows and everything that I can possibly think of.

If you have any questions, dedications, sandes as well you could PM me. I'll post the script of each session and the name of the songs that I played, on this thread. So the members who have missed the show can read through it and shout at me.

Due to various network congestion issues, I'll stream this show in 48kbps ACC+ Format. To listen you will have to use the latest version of winamp and enjoy high cd quality audio.

3rd November 2005 - Thursday

For today lets listen to couple of Meera Bhajans by Lata Mangeshkar. I have lined up eight of the best of meera bhajans. It is devotional music at its best. All of these songs highlights the unique facets of Lata’s genius. Hridaynath Mangeskar, Lata’s only brother, provides the music for the songs. Hridaynath has made his mark by his musical score in a number of Marathi films. He has also given music for Bhagawad Geeta and Gyansheshwari.

O Ramaiyya Bin Neend Na Aaye

You are listening to this program on HF Radio. Please visit hamaraforums.com for more of such shows from members of this board. Lata's is the voice of an angel. It is supple, subtle and sweet, yet artless, and she renders her bhajans with a rare inspirational excitement. And while she sings them, she literally loses herself in the ecstacy. The divine quality of her music is as soulful, as spellbinding as the ecstatic content of the Meera's poetry. Can there be a happier blend of sense and sound than this?

Ho Ji Hari Kit Gaye

The gospel of Bhakti has been sung by a thousand voices. It has found eloquent expression through poetry, song, music and drama down the centuries and has inspired millions of hearts seeking salvation from the woes and miseries of worldly life.

Maayi Maano Supamana

Meera was one of the most ardent disciples of this cult of pure devotion. She proclaimed her love for Lord Krishna in an intensely personal vein and moved among the holiest and lowliest with her message of devotion and faith.

Thane Kayi Kayi Bol Sunava

She poured forth her heart into some of the finest poems which have been a perennial source for millions. Meera rightly belongs to the tradition of women mystics, and a variety of legends have grown around her life. Meera was, by all accounts, a Rajput princess who flourished in the 16th century.

Mahra Re Giridhar Gopala

Widowed while still in her teens and with nothing to look forward to in the world. She concentrated herself wholly to religion. Immersed in her holy love of Lord Krishna, She soon forsook the splendour of palace life in quest of a personal god.

Khenu Sang Khelu Holi

Her restless, unyielding spirit led her to far-flung places. Bare footed, the erstwhile princess spanned the vast expanse of north India, singing lyrical songs that were full of devotion, surrender and abandonment to lord Krishna, and she attracted a vast following wherever she went.

Nanda Nandana Sanwaro

Legend has it that meera sang her way to union the flute – playing cowherd – God at Dwarka, the earthly abode of Lord Krishna, in Gujarat state.
