The 5'o Clock Show, Tune in daily on our very own HF Radio Options

Yesterday I've started on my blog sort of a radio show and titled it - The 5'O Clock Show. I've kept it for a max of 30 minutes daily. If I have some topic, I'll speak out or I'll simply play 5 to 6 songs. I am not limiting myself to old (my fav) ; I'll blend the show with talks - all that is happening around me, Indian music .. old, new, ghazals, dialogues, humor, clips from other radio shows and everything that I can possibly think of.

If you have any questions, dedications, sandes as well you could PM me. I'll post the script of each session and the name of the songs that I played, on this thread. So the members who have missed the show can read through it and shout at me.

Due to various network congestion issues, I'll stream this show in 48kbps ACC+ Format. To listen you will have to use the latest version of winamp and enjoy high cd quality audio.

So tell us guys howz the Diwali celebration happening. Like I said yesterday, its been Dhouum Dhuooom Duooom Duooom all over since the early dawn. And its November 1st, In Karnataka, this day is celebrated as Rajyotsava day, meaning ‘birth of a state’. It’s a govt. declared holiday, so another day of chutti.

Mohd Rafi - Chaar Dinon Ki Chutti Hai - Aas Ka Panchi

There is famous song for this day. I would have loved to play it here on this occasion. But unfortunately I don’t have it with me. I’ll just read out the lines from that song:- Kannada Da Ravi Mudi Banda, Kannada Da Belakanne Tanda, Rajyotsava, Nammah Rajyotsava. Meaning: The star of kannada has approached, it has brought light and prosperity with it, birth of a state, its our birth of a state.

Mahendra Kapoor – Hai Preet Jahan Ki Reet Sada – Purab Aur Paschim

Many years back the state of mysore was ruled by kings. Several districts now called North Karnataka and Hyderabad Karnataka were dissolved in the new state. This new state was named after Mysore. People of North and Hyderabad area did not accept the name Mysore. People here were demanding a change in the name. After a prolonged debate the name of the state was changed to Karnataka on November 1, 1973. Late Devraj Urs the chief minister during the period took this decision. Officially the new state was born on Nov 1 and every year since then the birth of the state is celebrated.

Kishore Kumar – Tere Liye Maine Sab Ko Chhoda – Anand Ashram

Well known Punjabi literature noted author Amrita Pritam passed away yesterday. She was 86. In 1982 she was conferred with the Jnanpith Award for her lifetime contribution to Punjabi literature. She was the first woman recepient of the Sahitya Akademi Award and the first punjabi woman to receive the Padmashree from the President of India in 1969. Many of her works have been translated into French and Japanese. Her well known work, Pinjar was recently made into a Hindi film.

Jagjit Singh – Haath Chhote - Pinjar

Fame Gurukull has announced its Fame Jodi as Ruprekha Bannerjee and Qazi Taqueer. The couple won a contract of 10 million with Sony BMG and a Maruti Alto. Qazi hails from Kashmir and was voted in 10 times by the audience. He dedicated his victory to his uncle Rafi. Ruprekha hails from Kolkata. Congratulations to jodi. Both of their photos has been recently posted by Tahir on HF.
