This new thread will feature memorable Tamil classics.
Here's the doyen Madurai Mani Iyer singing "Kandan Karunai Puriyum Vadivel" in Raag Bhimpalasi. The same tune was heard in Hindi, "Veena Madhur Madhur Kachhu Bol" from "Ram Rajya" (1943) sung by Saraswati Rane. If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

Here is the original Tamil song whose Hindi version was talked about in the
Lata forum. Interestingly, the Hindi version is sung by Lata and the great Tamil singer P B Srinivas. However, the Tamil version is by P Susheela and TMS. If PBS was asked to sing the Hindi version (considering that this is one of a handful of songs that he sang in Hindi), I would have assumed that it was because he sang the original. But that was not the case. |
