Starting a new topic for reasonably rare Lata songs ( like I did for Rafi songs earlier ). I will be discussing songs here which I like and which I feel are not easily available. Other members - pl feel free to add ... but please ensure that the songs are good and the sound quality is also good, as far as possible.
Today's choice falls on a song composed by one of my favourite music directors _ Roshan - from a movie which has several great and well known songs ( Baar baar tohe kya samjhaen / ab kya misaal doon / kabhi to milegi kahin to milegi / aapne yaad dilaya to mujhe yaad aaya ) - the movie is AARTI, released in 1962 This particular song is not as well known as the others in the movie ... but is a very emotional, soulful tune - very well sung by Lata Mangeshkar .....and after so many years, continues to haunt my mind, whenever I think of it. Here's "Bane ho ek khaak se, ameer kya gareeb kya". Top class music composition ... great words by Majrooh Sultanpuri. Enjoy ! ![]() Sri "Jis din is duniya se nafrat aur khudgarzi mit jaayegi, us roz yeh insaan naachega, us roz yeh dharti gaayegi" - Rajinder Krishan (Maa baap 1959)

After the great success of classical music of Baiju Bawara (1953), Naushad had already won the admiration of the famous producer V. Shantaram. In 1953, when Shantaram was planning to produce his most famous film Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baje , he initially invited Naushad to compose music for this film. At this time, Naushad already knew that great music director Vasant Desai was already an employee of Shantaram's Rajkamal studios. Naushad thanked Shantaram for the offer. But after a few minutes of chat, pointed out that when music director of the caliber of Vasant Desai was already available in Rajkamal Studios, it would be appropriate that Shantaram offer this film music to Vasant Desai. He also stressed that Vasant Desai was fully capable of giving classical based music. So Naushad was noble enough to forego the opportunity to compose music for Shantaram's film. After coming to know about this incident, next day, Vasant Desai, with tears in his eyes, personally came to Naushad and thanked him for this noble gesture. We all know that Vasant Desai did a wonderful job in composing classical based music for the film Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baje. From JJPB - O suno suno ji more rasiya man basiya, kuchh kuchh tumse bole ankhiyan. Lyrics: Hasrat Jaipuri. It's a CD rip and sounds restored. How much restored, I can't tell. 3:43 mins @ 128 Sri ji - I am not by any means qualified to judge the rarity or otherwise of this one, do forgive me if it doesn't belong here. Zippoo ji - was the sar pitaii worth it?? You must be the change you want to see in the world - Mahatma Gandhi |
