mmm too much work today Divvy.. but here is the next one..
Everyone knows what a duel is. Until the 20th century, men showed their honor by dueling each other. One participant shot at the other, and if the other participant lived, he was given a shot to kill. Many famous men were involved in duels, with the Burr-Hamilton being the most famous, and Andrew Jackson being one of the most prolific. Anyway, a variation of the duel is the concept of the truel, where three participants are involved. In the this riddle, Participant A is a perfect shot, and anytime he shoots, he kills with certainty. Participant B is a pretty good shot, and anytime he shoots, there is a probability of 0.5 that he will kill. Finally, participant C is a lousy shot, and anytime he shoots, there is a probability of 0.33 that he will kill. To make things fair, the order of shooting is C, then B, and finally A. This sequence is repeated until only participant is left alive. With participant C being first, what is his best strategy at surviving? Enjoy .. |
