After singing-star Suraiyya's recent demise Lata-ji paid a lovely tribute to her, during which she recollected a song-recording with her and "another singer". Suraiyya-ji was then a bubbling spirit and started giggling, which got Lata-ji also into a 'giglacious" mood and it went on to become a giggling spree. Apparently the "other singer" was not amused and complained that she (Suraiyya-ji) was disturbing his singing.

I can imagine a conscientious Rafi-sahab at the recording-studio, seriously humming the lines and rehearsing for the recording, only to be interrupted time and again by high-pitched giggles from his two female co-singers.

My guess is it was at the recording of "Bheegi palkein ootha".

And I wouldn't blame him for thinking of them by the name of the film they were recording for: "DO GUNDE"!

I did not realize I had the album of "Prem Kahani". Virtually all my "albums" are audio-tapes, and very often each tape features songs from 2 films. So it does not make sense to arrange them alphabetically. To some extent I've been able to stack together tapes of films featuring, for example Dilip Kumar or Raj Kapoor or Shammi Kapoor, etc. But in which stack would either the old or later "Andaaz" go, since one had Dilip/Raj and the other Shammi/Rajesh?

I remembered only one Rafi-sahab song from "Prem Kahani", i.e. "Doston mein koi baat". It is a relatively rare number, and I believed I had that single track in one of my compilation of Rafi-sahab songs. It was only when I could not find it among them that I started panicking! What if I did not have it! God forbid!

So I searched among the tapes of the various films, and lo & behold, it was in the Rajesh Khanna bunch.

Believe me, I had never heard the other Rafi-sahab song from the movie --- even though it has been with me for so many years! Never had heard it broadcast either.

Thankfully, your list has now come down by one more, and I'm glad I've been able to come up with two songs for you.

But I am amazed and delighted by the songs posted by fellow-member "Rafi" --- truly unique numbers. May his tribe increase!
