After singing-star Suraiyya's recent demise Lata-ji paid a lovely tribute to her, during which she recollected a song-recording with her and "another singer". Suraiyya-ji was then a bubbling spirit and started giggling, which got Lata-ji also into a 'giglacious" mood and it went on to become a giggling spree. Apparently the "other singer" was not amused and complained that she (Suraiyya-ji) was disturbing his singing.

I can imagine a conscientious Rafi-sahab at the recording-studio, seriously humming the lines and rehearsing for the recording, only to be interrupted time and again by high-pitched giggles from his two female co-singers.

My guess is it was at the recording of "Bheegi palkein ootha".

And I wouldn't blame him for thinking of them by the name of the film they were recording for: "DO GUNDE"!

I am relieved that you are reading these corrections and inputs, for I've been counting on friends out there to provide the right info on my U/Ls for accurate listing in the Songs Library. "rom"-ji has been a tremendous asset in regard to my BBM uploads. I am confident I can count on Sharad and Yusuf and others in MAS. As for Mukesh files, I am relying on Manish and his "gang of Mukesh extortionists".

Was it "Doston mein koi baat chal jaati hai" in the Rajesh Khanna/Shashi Kapoor starrer "Prem Kahani"? Or am I wrong again? But then, only the songs have mattered to me. Whether Rafi-sahab sang for Jagdeep or Kishore-da for Asrani, they came up with some all-time classics.

I wish someone would keep updating the Excel database of Rafi-sahab's songs. Count me out! I consider myself in the supervisory cadre --- I like to see other people doing all the work!
