Since I plan to upload a few, I thought it prudent to begin anew. I can upload files upto 20 mb at a go, what would the majoriy prefer multiple smaller files or fewer larger files? I could reduce the file sizes too by compromising on quality / screen size.

Current theme Dances.

This is the beautiful Amrapali (Vyjanthimala) - a dance competition. All the dances in this movie were amazing. The movement, expression, grace - a visual feast.

To be downloaded in one folder, extract Part 1 and the rest will extract automatically into one file.

T-ji:

From what I've been able to gather, for members with limited bandwidth it is easier to download more smaller files (no more than 5mb) rather than less larger files. It's very frustrating when the line gets disconnected before the full download of a large file.

Would appreciate if some members would confirm this. Thanks!

What you have said is true for members like me who have dial-up
connections. Facility of using download manager with resume option
is not available. So practically 'less larger files' are not for me. It
is very hard to ignore the multi-megabite files in the classical music
forum. But what can not be cured must be endured.
I am for more files of smaller size, a process which may be inconvenient
for the uploaders.

Urzung-bhai;

Trust me, it does not have to be endured.

If that's what it takes to cater to the interests of the maximum number of members, we can consider making it a norm in the forum that file attachments should not exceed 5 mbps.

Sure, it takes a little more effort from the person/s uploading, in the form of splitting files. But I'm confident they will not grudge it. The very purpose of uploading is to share, and the larger number of fellow-members we can share with, the more rewarding it is.

Let's hear from some other members, please! This is a very pertinent subject for discussion in view of the large number of uls and dls every day in the forum.

If you stop trying to make sense of it all, you'll be less confused. Reality is an illusion.

i too favour files of smaller size because many a times it happens that while downloading bigger files, connection disrupts....sad1.gif and moreover, with some problem in net speed and connection in our insti. the downlaod takes more than an hour for files bigger than 5mb..sad1.gif uploading is also a major problem for me but thats purely at my end.

I have a few more song/ dance sequences from this film(Amrapali) ready for upload (all split in 5 mb parts, not to worry tongue.gif). However Divz tells me she can't see the video, hears the audio though. Anyone else with the same problem? If not, what could her problem be? Please let me know that all's well with the previous upload, so I'll continue with the next and someone do help Divz, I am new to this DVD/ Video thing.

Anyone interested in a dance sequence from Amrapali - Gopi Krishna & Bela Bose(?). Vyjanthi's in the scenes, but not dancing. Wonder why. Was she too intimidated to dance with Gopi Krishna?? The man's just too graceful.

T-ji:

The video works fine for me on Divx 6 player. I tried playing it on Realplayer 10.5, Windows Media Player 10, Winamp 5.1 and JetAudio 6.2.4, but in most cases, the video was intermittent, while audio was fine. In winamp, there wasnt any video at all !! However, no player prompted me to look for additional drivers or any such thing.

As regards upload batch size limit, I guess setting 5 MB as default shd be good. People uploading on faster connections hardly should find any difference in uploading an additional batch of file or two, while those uploading on slower conenctions would prefer to upload batches of smaller sizes anyways.

Khobi - I've uploaded just one Video in 3 parts. You'd have to download all three and extract the first one (which will automatically extract the other two parts too), to get the complete video.

I played my original file in Winamp (5.1), Windows Media Player (9.0) and Real Player (10). It plays fine. I also downloaded the file I uploaded, that plays fine too in all 3!!!! headbang.gif hairpull.gif sobsob.gif

Anyone wants to offer any expert help?

Tji I have not downloaded the files because I have this movie. It appears that
the clips uploaded by you are in divx format. The members are advised to
downlaod divx player, which is free, and view the clips in divx player. Otherwise,
download and install some free codec pack to view the clips in all the players.
Take the help of google and search for these video codec packs. These are
freely available on many sites.

Divz - glad to know that smile1.gif Relieved in fact. If I find the video codec packs one of these days for windows media player/ winamp/ realplayer - I'll do so and post here. Meanwhile Divx player it is!

Nature ji - the file is uploaded in 3 parts. You'd need to download all three in one folder and extract part 1. That should work. Is anyone else getting the error mentioned by Nature ji?

Here's the next dance. Amrapalli the court dancer's in love. She knows in her heart he'll come to her tonight. But, so far there's no word. She has to dance in court, but ... all she can do is yearn for him. The song and dance - "Neel gagan ki chhaon mein" expresses this yearning. As it ends, he's there... and then she dances in joy. Which is why this file is so large, it's almost like two performances. So please bear with me. I have reduced the screen size too, didn't want to compromise on the visuals. Here's Vyjanthimala all resplendent in red and gold!

This files is in 8 parts (2 posts- This and the next). You'd have to save them all in one folder and extract the first one, which will automatically extract all 8 parts into one single file.

Repeat upload ... will be deleted in a week's time... i.e. latest by June 25, 2006. -deleted!
