(Asha) Jwala (1971)

This was the last film of Madhubala. She fell seriously ill while shooting for this movie and eventually passed away before it was completed. The movie was shelved for nearly 10 years. Then the producer decided to complete and release the film using various actresses filling in for Madhubala. Eventually when it was released in 1971, the movie was a financial flop.

This was the only color film in which Madhubala starred. “Mughal-E-Azam”, released in 1960, was partially shot in color. It was later completely colorized and rereleased few years ago.

Asha Parekh who was yet to be launched as a full fledged heroine with “Dil Deke Dekho” in 1959 had a small role in this film. She appears in a couple of scenes with Madhubala in the film.

Before the movie was released the leading man of the movie Sunil Dutt had the top billing. But Sunil requested the producers to give Madhubala the top billing showing the respect she deserved. Posters were changed to reflect his wish.

I am uploading these songs in back-to-back two posts. The first post contains all of the songs from the film. The second post contains several extended version songs.

Now for a description of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ...

(Mala) Jahan Ara (1964)

Here is great album from the combination of Madan Mohanji and Rajinder Krishan. Each time they got together, the result was a smashing success. They collaborated in 35 plus movies, almost one-thid of Madan Maohan's albums, resulting in close to 350 songs. The songs from this album are a typical example of how successful this team of two has been. This time, among with his other favorites like Lata and Rafi Saab, Mohan Saab utilizes talents of Talatji and the results are as silkenly smooth as Talatji's voice.

I am uploading the songs from an original soundtrack album in two back-to-back posts. Here is a description of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ...

(Rekha) Khalifa (1976)

Here are the songs from this fine album from RD and Gulshan Bawra. I am also including a special version of "Dil Machal Raha Hai" with an elaborate introduction by Gulshan Bawara. Here Bawraji talks about how he and RD decided to work together, even though RD was reluctant at first. Following is this and other songs from the album ...

HERE'S A PECULIAR LITTLE ADDITION TO 'KHALIFA' :

'TAK DHIN TAK' APPEARED IN THE FILM IN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT FORMAT.

THE TWO PARTS WERE NOT ONLY COMBINED, THE STANZAS WERE INTERCHANGED TO GIVE IT A UNIQUE IDENTITY :

KHALIFA(76)-ARE AAJ KYA HAI RE...TAK DHIN TAK - FILM (COMBINED) VERSION - KISHORE, MANNA - 4.14 MINS
