(Vyjayanti) Leader (1964)
Shashidhar Mukherjee left his highly successful Filmistan Studios to form a new company, Filmalaya. As the first offering he chose an ambitious product, "Leader". It has a high budget and was to be shot in technicolor. But for some reason or other the production bogged down and went way over the budget. In the mean time the studio made other movies and released, the first of them being the highly successful "Dil Deke Dekho" in 1959. Even though "Leader" started before "Dil" it didn't see the daylight until 1964. When the movie was released, it was a major disappointment. It has beautiful music by Naushadji and an okay performance from Dilip Saab. But storyline was so hackneyed and it was so badly handled by the first time director, who may have been S. Mukherjee's son, that the movie bombed at the box office. I am uploading the songs from this film in three back-to-back posts. The first two posts cover all songs from the film. The third post has some extened version songs. Here is a description of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ... Attached image(s) ![]() |

(Waheeda) Main Sundar Hoon (1971)
This movie was based on the Tamil hit "Server Sundaram" made in 1964 that made Nagesh a star. Mahmood reprised the role in Hindi. The film had various guest appearances by film luminaries. Waheeda had an uncredited guest appearance acting as herself in a film shoot. Music director Jaikishan also appeared as himself in the song "Naach Meri Jaan". Here are the songs from this film from an original soundtrack album ... This post has been edited by swarapriya: Oct 12 2010, 08:48 PM Attached image(s) ![]() |

(Zeenat) Laawaris (1981)
Thanks to some fine songs and good performances from the principal actors, this rehash of several hit movies from Prakash Mehra, became a huge hit. The signature song of the album was "Mere Angne Mein". Even though both female and male versions became very popular, it was Amitabh's that swept people away. I am uploading these songs from an original soundtrack album in back-to-back two posts. A description of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves follow ... Attached image(s) ![]() |

(Asha) Jwala (1971)
This was the last film of Madhubala. She fell seriously ill while shooting for this movie and eventually passed away before it was completed. The movie was shelved for nearly 10 years. Then the producer decided to complete and release the film using various actresses filling in for Madhubala. Eventually when it was released in 1971, the movie was a financial flop. This was the only color film in which Madhubala starred. “Mughal-E-Azam”, released in 1960, was partially shot in color. It was later completely colorized and rereleased few years ago. Asha Parekh who was yet to be launched as a full fledged heroine with “Dil Deke Dekho” in 1959 had a small role in this film. She appears in a couple of scenes with Madhubala in the film. Before the movie was released the leading man of the movie Sunil Dutt had the top billing. But Sunil requested the producers to give Madhubala the top billing showing the respect she deserved. Posters were changed to reflect his wish. I am uploading these songs in back-to-back two posts. The first post contains all of the songs from the film. The second post contains several extended version songs. Now for a description of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ... Attached image(s) ![]() |

(Mala) Jahan Ara (1964)
Here is great album from the combination of Madan Mohanji and Rajinder Krishan. Each time they got together, the result was a smashing success. They collaborated in 35 plus movies, almost one-thid of Madan Maohan's albums, resulting in close to 350 songs. The songs from this album are a typical example of how successful this team of two has been. This time, among with his other favorites like Lata and Rafi Saab, Mohan Saab utilizes talents of Talatji and the results are as silkenly smooth as Talatji's voice. I am uploading the songs from an original soundtrack album in two back-to-back posts. Here is a description of the songs in the first post and the songs themselves ...
