Itne din hue, Dimps kahan gayi? Me came back ready to read pages of poetry but yahan kaafi sannata hai. Mei vaapas aagayi... I missed the thread so mmuch - was in Pune to attend cousin's kid's naming ceremony, my bro-in-law's engagement and a wedding - was I away for a week - it looks like ages... Gr8 going Catch, Priye and Shiv... Now my turn to share some... The Lake by Edgar Allen Poe In spring of youth it was my lot To haunt of the wide world a spot The which I could not love the less-- So lovely was the loneliness, Of a wild lake, with black rock bound And the tall pines that towered around. But when the Night had thrown her pall Upon that spot, as upon all, And the mystic wind went by Murmuring in melody-- Then- ah then I would awake To the terror of the lone lake. Yet, that terror was not fright But a tremulous delight-- A feeling not the jewelled mine Could teach or bribe me to define-- Nor Love- although the Love were thine. Death was in that poisonous wave And in its gulf a fitting grave For him who thence could solace bring To his lone imagining-- Whose solitary soul could make An Eden of that dim lake. There's no use in weeping,

I Am Not Yours by Sarah Teasdale I am not yours, not lost in you, Not lost, although I long to be Lost as a candle lit at noon, Lost as a snowflake in the sea. You love me, and I find you still A spirit beautiful and bright, Yet I am I, who long to be Lost as a light is lost in light. Oh plunge me deep in love - put out My senses, leave me deaf and blind, Swept by the tempest of your love, A taper in a rushing wind. Did I post this before ? A Magic Moment I Remember by Alexander Pushkin A magic moment I remember: I raised my eyes and you were there. A fleeting vision, the quintessence Of all that's beautiful and rare. I pray to mute despair and anguish To vain pursuits the world esteems, Long did I near your soothing accents, Long did your features haunt my dreams. Time passed- A rebel storm-blast scattered The reveries that once were mine And I forgot your soothing accents, Your features gracefully divine. In dark days of enforced retirement I gazed upon grey skies above With no ideals to inspire me, No one to cry for, live for, love. Then came a moment of renaissance, I looked up- you again are there, A fleeting vision, the quintessence Of all that`s beautiful and rare. There's no use in weeping,

To The God of Pain (by Sarojini Naidu) UNWILLING priestess in thy cruel fane, Long hast thou held me, pitiless god of Pain, Bound to thy worship by reluctant vows, My tired breast girt with suffering, and my brows Anointed with perpetual weariness. Long have I borne thy service, through the stress Of rigorous years, sad days and slumberless nights, Performing thine inexorable rites. For thy dark altars, balm nor milk nor rice, But mine own soul thou'st ta'en for sacrifice: All the rich honey of my youth's desire, And all the sweet oils from my crushed life drawn, And all my flower-like dreams and gem-like fire Of hopes up-leaping like the light of dawn. I have no more to give, all that was mine Is laid, a wrested tribute, at thy shrine; Let me depart, for my whole soul is wrung, And all my cheerless orisons are sung; Let me depart, with faint limbs let me creep To some dim shade and sink me down to sleep. There's no use in weeping,

Dedication by Robert Louis Stevenson My first gift and my last, to you I dedicate this fascicle of songs - The only wealth I have: Just as they are, to you. I speak the truth in soberness, and say I had rather bring a light to your clear eyes, Had rather hear you praise This bosomful of songs Than that the whole, hard world with one consent, In one continuous chorus of applause Poured forth for me and mine The homage of ripe praise. I write the finis here against my love, This is my love's last epitaph and tomb. Here the road forks, and I Go my way, far from yours. There's no use in weeping,

Have to rush back to work now .. but b4 I go, one more... To all ye HFrs... Life's Mirror by M. Bridges There are loyal hearts, there are spirits brave, There are souls that are pure and true, Then give to the world the best you have, And the best will come back to you. Give love, and love to your life will flow, A strength in your utmost need, Have faith, and a score of hearts will show Their faith in your word and deed. Give truth, and your gift will be paid in kind; And honor will honor meet; And a smile that is sweet will surely find A smile that is just as sweet. Give pity and sorrow to those who mourn, You will gather in flowers again The scattered seeds from your thoughts outborne Though the sowing seemed but vain. For life is the mirror of king and slave, 'Tis just what we are and do; Then give to the world the best you have, And the best will come back to you. There's no use in weeping,

Eternity by Ara John Movsesian I smile whenever I recall The special moments we have had; Walking always hand in hand Through the good times and the bad. Sometimes, I think it is a dream -- The love you give me could not be; But then when you are in my arms There's no mistake in its purity. Whether I'm with you or far away, My thoughts are always drawn to you Like a compass needle pointing North To a love much more than true. Of all the people on this Earth -- How lucky can a person be; To have found the likes of you, my love, With whom to share eternity! There's no use in weeping,

Two Birds by Ara John Movsesian Two birds begin a journey long, From different points in a far off land; With a luring urge - in heart a song, Two novices heed life's command. As they make their great migration, Their feeble feet turn to taloned hands; And the two reach their destination As seasoned travelers in the southern lands. Still unaware that the other lives, Each alights upon the very same tree; And there the two, as if guided by God, Fall madly in love and marry. Thus so it is with you and me; Two birds which Heaven's winds did blow To this blessed rendezvous of life, Like the two Swallows at Capistrano. There's no use in weeping,

The Poet's Love Song (by Sarojini Naidu) IN noon-tide hours, O Love, secure and strong, I need thee not; mad dreams are mine to bind The world to my desire, and hold the wind A voiceless captive to my conquering song. I need thee not, I am content with these: Keep silence in thy soul, beyond the seas! But in the desolate hour of midnight, when An ecstasy of starry silence sleeps On the still mountains and the soundless deeps, And my soul hungers for thy voice, O then, Love, like the magic of wild melodies, Let thy soul answer mine across the seas. There's no use in weeping,

A Psalm of Life
Tell me not in mournful numbers, Life is but an empty dream! For the soul is dead that slumbers, And things are not what they seem. Life is real! Life is earnest! And the grave is not its goal; Dust thou are, to dust thou returnest, Was not spoken of the soul. Not enjoyment, and not sorrow, Is our destined end or way; But to act, that each tomorrow Find us farther than today. Art is long, and Time is fleeting, And our hearts, though stout and brave, Still, like muffled drums, are beating Funeral marches to the grave. In the world's broad field of battle, In the bivouac of Life, Be not like dumb, driven cattle! Be a hero in the strife! Trust no Future, howe'er pleasant! Let the dead Past bury its dead! Act, - act in the living Present! Heart within, and God o'erhead! Lives of great men all remind us We can make our lives sublime, And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sand of time; Footprints, that perhaps another, Sailing o'er life's solenm main, A forlorn and shipwrecked brother, Seeing, shall take heart again. Let us then be up and doing, With a heart for any fate; Still achieving, still pursuing, Learn to labor and to wait. HW Longfellow |

Come, My Beloved, Hear From Me (by Robert Louis Stevenson) Come, my beloved, hear from me Tales of the woods or open sea. Let our aspiring fancy rise A wren's flight higher toward the skies; Or far from cities, brown and bare, Play at the least in open air. In all the tales men hear us tell Still let the unfathomed ocean swell, Or shallower forest sound abroad Below the lonely stars of God; In all, let something still be done, Still in a corner shine the sun, Slim-ankled maids be fleet of foot, Nor man disown the rural flute. Still let the hero from the start In honest sweat and beats of heart Push on along the untrodden road For some inviolate abode. Still, O beloved, let me hear The great bell beating far and near- The odd, unknown, enchanted gong That on the road hales men along, That from the mountain calls afar, That lures a vessel from a star, And with a still, aerial sound Makes all the earth enchanted ground. Love, and the love of life and act Dance, live and sing through all our furrowed tract; Till the great God enamoured gives To him who reads, to him who lives, That rare and fair romantic strain That whoso hears must hear again. There's no use in weeping,

There is a Lady Sweet and Kind by Thomas Ford There is a lady sweet and kind, Was never a face so pleased my mind; I did but see her passing by, And yet I'll love her till I die. Her gesture, motion, and her smiles, Her wit, her voice my heart beguiles, Beguiles my heart, I know not why, And yet I'll love her till I die. Cupid is winged and he doth range, Her country, so, my love doth change: But change she earth, or change she sky, Yet, I will love her till I die. There's no use in weeping,

Those are lovely numbers, priya, especially 'love me tender'. You will get such a person, don't worry. Been listening to some of these since last month. Very nice collection. There's one I like quite a lot. QUOTE Are you lonesome tonight do you miss me tonight Are you sorry we drifted apart Does your memory stray to a bright sunny day When I kissed you and called you sweetheart Do the chairs in your parlor seem empty and bare Do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight Spoken: I wonder if you're lonesome tonight You know someone said that the world's a stage And each must play a part Fate had me playing in love you as my sweet heart Act one was when we met, I loved you at first glance You read your line so cleverly and never missed a cue Then came act two, you seemed to change and you acted strange And why I'll never know Honey, you lied when you said you loved me And I had no cause to doubt you But I'd rather go on hearing your lies Than go on living without you Now the stage is bare and I'm standing there With emptiness all around And if you won't come back to me Then they can bring the curtain down Is your heart filled with pain, shall I come back again Tell me dear, are you lonesome tonight |

Welcome to the peace & tranquility of this thread. Some ofthe poems would take us down memory lane for sure. Dreams may die but let us not deprive ourself of the essence of imagination & thoughts. Nobody can take this away from us. THOUGHTS OF YOU Author: Thomas E. Napper I was thinking about you today and I do that a lot it seems. You're always in my heart by day, at night you drift into my dreams. I cannot shake these feelings for you, but then I'd never had a desire to. The blessing of our love and friendship, is something I want to share with you. I want to feel you near me, when you're so far away. I hope you feel me in your heart, as you travel your path today. Footprints in the sands of time, walking closer towards each other. Holding hands and sharing love, which will not be meant for another. These are some of the memories, that come with thoughts of you. These feelings are from my very heart, and something you can hold as true. ***************************************** Thoughts by Sarah Teasdale When I am all alone Envy me most, Then my thoughts flutter round me In a glimmering host; Some dressed in silver, Some dressed in white, Each like a taper Blossoming light; Most of them merry, Some of them grave, Each of them lithe As willows that wave; Some bearing violets, Some bearing bay, One with a burning rose Hidden away -- When I am all alone Envy me then, For I have better friends Than women and men. "The moment we want to believe something, we suddenly see all the arguments for it, and become blind to the arguments against it."
"Reading made Don Quixote a gentleman, but believing what he read made him mad. " "You'll never have a quiet world till you knock the patriotism out of the human race. " George Bernard Shaw |

"The best and the most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched...but are felt in the heart." Far, very far, into the world of the farthest beyond My hope carries me and places me On the sweetest lap of the unknown. There i behold my self-form In the Dance-Delight of the Absolute Every Night and every Morn Some to Misery are born Every morn and every Night Some are born to sweet Delight Some are born to Endless night |
