My Heart's Fit To Break (by Lady Caroline Lamb) My heart's fit to break, yet no tear fills my eye, As I gaze on the moon, and the clouds that flit by; The moon shines so fair, it reminds me of thee, But the clouds that obscure it are emblems of me. They will pass like the dreams of our pleasures and youth, They will pass like the promise of honor and truth, And bright thou shalt shine when these shadows are gone, All radiant, serene, unobscur'd--but alone. Weep For What Thou'st Lost Weep for what thou'st lost, love-- Weep for what thou'st done-- Weep for what thou did'st not do, And more for what thou'st done. Time that's gone returneth never, Keen repining lasteth ever; Heart that's pierc'd refuseth gladness, Melancholy causeth madness. Yet if tears avail not, Tears of fond regret; Arm thy mind, and proudly girl, Endeavour to forget. Shouldst thou spend thy days in grieving, What is past, there's no retrieving, Once the hour of passion over, Tear nor frown recalls a lover There's no use in weeping,
Though we are condemned to part: There's such a thing as keeping A remembrance in one's heart: ...........by Charlotte Bronte |

Isn't this the mistake that happens to most love? Maybe I didn't treat you Quite as good as I should have Maybe I didn't love you Quite as often as I could have Little things I should have said and done I just never took the time You were always on my mind Maybe I didn't hold you All those lonely, lonely times And I guess I never told you I'm so happy that you're mine If I made you feel second best Girl I'm so sorry I was blind You were always on my mind Tell me, tell me that your sweet love hasn't died Give me, give me one more chance to keep you satisfied, Little things I should have said and done I just never took the time You were always on my mind |

Here is a sweet Zimple poem
The Child In Him I loved the child in him so innocent and sweet The mischief in his eyes the blush upon his cheek The tender way he spoke that showed me that he cared The touch of his warm hand that gently touched my hair The smiles that we shared that filled my life with glee For when I was with him I found the child in me Jean Gabor |

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad Other things just make you swear and curse. When you're chewing on life's gristle Don't grumble, give a whistle And this'll help things turn out for the best... And...always look on the bright side of life... Always look on the light side of life... If life seems jolly rotten There's something you've forgotten And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing. When you're feeling in the dumps Don't be silly chumps Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing. And...always look on the bright side of life... Always look on the light side of life... For life is quite absurd And death's the final word You must always face the curtain with a bow. Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow. So always look on the bright side of death Just before you draw your terminal breath Life's a piece of shit When you look at it Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true. You'll see it's all a show Keep 'em laughing as you go Just remember that the last laugh is on you. And always look on the bright side of life... Always look on the right side of life... "The moment we want to believe something, we suddenly see all the arguments for it, and become blind to the arguments against it."
"Reading made Don Quixote a gentleman, but believing what he read made him mad. " "You'll never have a quiet world till you knock the patriotism out of the human race. " George Bernard Shaw |

The Naming of Cats -- TS ELIOT
The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter, It isn't just one of your holiday games; You may think at first I'm as mad as a hatter When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES. First of all, there's the name that the family use daily, Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James, Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey-- All of them sensible everyday names. There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter, Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames: Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter-- But all of them sensible everyday names. But I tell you, a cat needs a name that's particular, A name that's peculiar, and more dignified, Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular, Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride? Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum, Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat, Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum- Names that never belong to more than one cat. But above and beyond there's still one name left over, And that is the name that you never will guess; The name that no human research can discover-- But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess. When you notice a cat in profound meditation, The reason, I tell you, is always the same: His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name: His ineffable effable Effanineffable Deep and inscrutable singular Name. |

Macavity's a Mystery Cat: he's called the Hidden Paw--
For he's the master criminal who can defy the Law. He's the bafflement of Scotland Yard, the Flying Squad's despair: For when they reach the scene of crime--Macavity's not there! Macavity, Macavity, there's no on like Macavity, He's broken every human law, he breaks the law of gravity. His powers of levitation would make a fakir stare, And when you reach the scene of crime--Macavity's not there! You may seek him in the basement, you may look up in the air-- But I tell you once and once again, Macavity's not there! Macavity's a ginger cat, he's very tall and thin; You would know him if you saw him, for his eyes are sunken in. His brow is deeply lined with thought, his head is highly doomed; His coat is dusty from neglect, his whiskers are uncombed. He sways his head from side to side, with movements like a snake; And when you think he's half asleep, he's always wide awake. Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macavity, For he's a fiend in feline shape, a monster of depravity. You may meet him in a by-street, you may see him in the square-- But when a crime's discovered, then Macavity's not there! He's outwardly respectable. (They say he cheats at cards.) And his footprints are not found in any file of Scotland Yard's. And when the larder's looted, or the jewel-case is rifled, Or when the milk is missing, or another Peke's been stifled, Or the greenhouse glass is broken, and the trellis past repair-- Ay, there's the wonder of the thing! Macavity's not there! And when the Foreign Office finds a Treaty's gone astray, Or the Admiralty lose some plans and drawings by the way, There may be a scap of paper in the hall or on the stair-- But it's useless of investigate--Macavity's not there! And when the loss has been disclosed, the Secret Service say: "It must have been Macavity!"--but he's a mile away. You'll be sure to find him resting, or a-licking of his thumbs, Or engaged in doing complicated long division sums. Macavity, Macavity, there's no one like Macacity, There never was a Cat of such deceitfulness and suavity. He always has an alibit, or one or two to spare: And whatever time the deed took place--MACAVITY WASN'T THERE! And they say that all the Cats whose wicked deeds are widely known (I might mention Mungojerrie, I might mention Griddlebone) Are nothing more than agents for the Cat who all the time Just controls their operations: the Napoleon of Crime! I presume all of us do have the child within. On certain occasions or you may call it moments this child comes out. It does leave us with a lovely & innocent feel about it. These are the moments to cherish. "The moment we want to believe something, we suddenly see all the arguments for it, and become blind to the arguments against it."

I don't deplore the years of my spring,
Where dreams and life were never in connection, I don't deplore the nights' mysterious ring, Sang by a lyre in a fiery passion. I don't deplore the false and faithless friends, The wreaths of feasts, the bowls of the parties, I don't deplore the beautiful adulteries - A thoughtful stranger, I avoid these trends. But where's the time of gentle inclination, Of hearty silence and young hopes' strings? Where are the flame and tears of inspiration? Come back again, the years of my spring! PUSHKIN |

I have outlasted all desire, My dreams and I have grown apart; My grief alone is left entire, The gleanings of an empty heart. The storms of ruthless dispensation Have struck my flowery garland numb- I live in lonely desolation And wonder when my end will come. Thus on a naked tree-limb, blasted By tardy winter's whistling chill, A single leaf which has outlasted Its season will be trembling still. PUSHKIN |

Expect nothing. Live frugally
On surprise. become a stranger To need of pity Or, if compassion be freely Given out Take only enough Stop short of urge to plead Then purge away the need. Wish for nothing larger Than your own small heart Or greater than a star; Tame wild disappointment With caress unmoved and cold Make of it a parka For your soul. Discover the reason why So tiny human midget Exists at all So scared unwise But expect nothing. Live frugally On surprise. - Alice Walker |

Suttee
Lamp of my life, the lips of Death Hath blown thee out with their sudden breath; Naught shall revive thy vanished spark . . . Love, must I dwell in the living dark? Tree of my life, Death's cruel foot Hath crushed thee down to thy hidden root; Nought shall restore thy glory fled . . . Shall the blossom live when the tree is dead? Life of my life, Death's bitter sword Hath severed us like a broken word, Rent us in twain who are but one . . Shall the flesh survive when the soul is gone? Sarojini Naidu |
