Hindi cinema on the one hand churned out lyrics with a lot of depth and meaning but on the other hand is also renowned for some absoute mindless,senseless stuff.


the first song that comes to my mind is from the film Coolie no.1

mein tou raste se jaa raha tha
Bhelpuri kha raha tha
raste se jaa raha tha, bhelpuri Kha raha tha
Ladki ghuma raha tha
tujhe Mirchi lagi tou mein kya karoon ???

and then it goes on to say
teri nani mari tou mein kya karonn and so on and so forth

Pallavi ji hindi films mein har section ke liye ke liye songs/films hain !
Jaise worker class, Lower middle class, upper middle class, indian elite, Overseas public(dollar wali) !

Aajkal aap dekhein to Overseas ka kaafi effect hai movies mein ! specially Akshay , salmaan srk ki !

Kuch language thoda neeche tabke(section) ke lye hai for eg " main ladki ghuma raha tha" . We dont use such language. we normally say "main ladki ke saath tha" but if you ignore this line. the whole song is a very good DIFFERENT funny song. It was among biggest hit of that time ! normal chatting lines have been sung in musical form...and it was a huge hit........aur aisa kitni baar hua HFM mein..........aise bahut kam eg milenge !

Yes double meaning songs sahi nahin hai !

PS : I wish I could give you very good egs from Punjabi music......how people differentiate music based on their social status or lyrics content ! (UK punjabis' feel we listen to lower grade stuff......urban punjabis think Desi(rural) punjabis are fool !)

This song - for me hands down - has the most ridiculous lyrics ever sung by man (Bappi Lahiri in this case)...
