Many Many Happy Returns of the Day Ashaji!!!!!!
Posted by: priya Sep 8 2005, 12:01 AM
Dear friends,
Ashaji's birthday is a special event. We Asha fans adore her and of course she has a place in the heart of every HFM lover.
I was wondering how to do something that would include most of HF and so thought of uploading a few songs of Ashaji--mostly rare ones, solos and duets with as many artists as possible. So that there is something on this thread for everyone. Sound quality may be poor in some cases due to the fact that these songs are ripped from vinyl.
But hope everyone will enjoy the uls coming forth on this thread.
As an Asha fan, I can only say this day is blessed. I cannot imagine a world without Ashaji or my life without her music. Thank U, Ashaji, for the music and all the good times. U are the best!!!!

Starting with a solo.
Film: Do Phool
MD: Vasant Desai
Lyrics: Hasrat jaipuri
Year: 1958
The film has 2 gorgeous solos aayi pari rang bhari and kanha na chedo bansuri (both already uled on HF); this song is obviously picturised on a child artist.
Main bezubaan hoon panchi....
Sound quality fine.

Again both sisters seem to be singing for kids? Lataji for the boy and Asha the girl. Lataji pyaar ki baatein kar rahi hai aur Ashaji khelne ki!!!
Sound quality again fine.

Quality so-so. I am not too sure of the speed of this track.

Priya,
I hope u r NOT planning to play the new Asha's ghazal album at the bash
I just can't believe a singer of Asha's stature doing this cover version album. She complaint and made fun of Anuradha for doing her sister's cover version songs....now, she did the same thing but in a worst way!

The guys will like this one. Na, not a shekshy song but one with the PP ideology (nahin Pradeep Prabhu nahin balki Pati Prabhu ie Pati Parmeshwar
)
Film: Shankar Seeta Ansuya
MD: Pt. Shivram Krishna
Lyrics: Pradeep
Year: 1965
Sukh mein rahiye
Dukh mein rahiye
Jahan bhi rahiye
Pyaar se rahiye
Prabhu ke jag mein
Nar naari hain
Jeevan gaadi ke ke do pahiye
Tu pritam se kar le pyaar
Tera ho jayega beda paar
Isi pyaar mein tujhe milenge
Jag ke khevanhar
Tera ho jayega beda paar....
Kajal bindiya chudiyan teri
Nath ke tere moti
Tabhi chamakte jab tak chamke
Piya naam ki jyoti
Isi jyot se jagmag kar de
Tu apna ghar sansar
tera ho jayega beda paar
Chahe mahal ho chahe kuti ho
Ya jangal ka dera
Jahan hai tere pati parmeshwar
Wahan hai tera ______ ?
Pati charnon ki dhool se behna
Apni maang sanwar
Tera ho jayega beda paar
Dekh pati ki aankhon se tu
Bol pati ki boli
Ant samay pati ke kandhon par
Nikle teri doli
Pativrata ke liye khule hain
Sada swarg ke dwar
Tera ho jayega beda paar

I had asked this question 2 days ( not directly by me but through someone - to release the numbers before they are black marketed - yes it was conveyed that songs are black marketed ) - she said that se does have around 100 songs ready for release...just that she is very busy at the moment in various assignments...lets see...

Came across this link where Asha ji talks about some of her fav. singers... maybe you have already seen this but still i thought i should share ![smile1.gif](style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif)
A few years ago, a singer said "There is a gap between the heart and brain. That is where the sound box lies. Some sing from their heart, others use their brain. But all singers in my list [of favourites] apply both their heart and brain.'"
That singer was Asha Bhosle.
It must be special to be Asha Bhosle, gifted to have an ageless voice like hers.
She is the voice that her father, Master Dinanath Mangeshkar, trained, along with her elder sister, Lata Mangeshkar.
Like her sister, she began her career as a child artiste and later branched into singing for films. Her rich, versatile voice mastered the saat surs (seven melodies) easily.
She has sung for countless actresses, from Nutan to Waheeda Rehman to Rekha to Urmila Matondkar to Shamita Shetty. And through those many decades, her magic has always been constant.

I want her to touch the sky: Lata on sis Asha's birthday
Indo-Asian News Service
Mumbai, September 8, 2005
Celebrated diva Asha Bhonsle, who has enthralled music lovers for over five decades with her songs, turned 72 on Thursday and elder sister Lata Mangeshkar said she was proud of her.
Asha, a recipient of the prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke award, has sung more than 20,000 songs in many languages. Among the awards the velvet-voiced Asha has received are six Filmfare Awards and the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award.
"I want her to touch the sky," said Lata Mangeshkar fondly of her younger sibling.
"What my sister Asha has achieved is amazing. I'm very proud of her. It's said that no tree can grow under a large tree. I'm lucky that I never had to go out and seek work for my kith and kin. Whatever my brother Hridayanath and sister Usha have achieved in the music world, they've done on their own. But I feel my presence has cast a shadow over their careers," Lata told IANS.
"Asha had to move away from my shadows to prove herself. And she did it so wonderfully! She set out to do what she had to on her own. And I feel very happy when I hear her songs in her new album Asha. I've listened to what she has done to the ghazal legends - Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali, Farida Khannum and Jagjit Singh - Asha's singing needs no comment. She has always been versatile and this album proves how far she has come.
"It was very brave of her to elect to do songs by such stalwarts. It's not easy to encore such time-tested numbers. No matter how well you do it people are bound to say you just can't compare. Yes, I had done Shradhanjali where I had tried to sing numbers of the great stalwarts in the playback world. Luckily for me I paid homage to those who were already gone.
"Asha has to compete with the living. For that she must be congratulated. I like the way she has paid a tribute to these living legends. The only reservation I've about the ghazals in the album 'Asha' are the changes in the orchestration. I didn't much care for the guitar interludes in the ghazals. They create a sense of discord. I suppose the ghazals have been modernized to suit young tastes.
"But in my opinion there's a particular mahaul - a specific environment - for the ghazal which cannot be tampered with. This is my opinion. It's also my opinion that my sister has reached a stage in her career where she can attempt anything. I want her to touch the sky."

Posted by: mohd2004 Sep 10 2005, 04:53 PM
Yes hits is correct, its Qafas (cage), the version Priya you have uploaded the words qafas is not clear, probably due to volume fluctuation in the mukhda and I checked my version, Talat Saab's clearly says in the mukhda as "Qafas " and I dont think there is a word Qafat in Urdu. I shall upload this song and for the sake of clarity of this word, the song @96 kbps:-
TATAAR KA CHOR (1955)
Qafas me hai ...na manzil hai.
Talat Mahmood , Asha Bhosle & Mubarak Begum..

Ur most welcome Unni. That is high praise coming from the Badshah and song daata.

Ashaji belongs to all of us so it would be presumptuous of me to thank everyone for the wishes and participation but it is just great that we all celebrated it together.

Thanks Ramesh ji and BJ for the wishes. ![smile1.gif](style_emoticons/default/smile1.gif)
I dont have any rare numbers that you guys would not have heard. But here are some that I just ripped off the movie. I know these have been uploaded before probably but the quality might be better. Any how, hope you enjoy them.

The movie titles say the only female singer in film is Asha ji. I am guessing she is singing somewhere in here also. Do correct if I am wrong.

This one is definitely Asha ji I can tell. Lovely song!

Enjoy this short CLIP

Yes the file size is small, around 13 MB..... its ripped for handheld / portable but you can zoom in when viewing it and works great without losing any of the quality. Were you connected to internet when you played it ? Cause it would play even in windows media player but I have used DIVX codec... so WM Player normally goes and grabs the codec for you. The other option is , download a DIVX player.. most of the videos Pradeep or I upload here are encoded using Divx....

A duet with Guru (Kishore Kumar)Film: Muqaddar
MD: James Singh
Lyrics: Bharat Vyas
Year: 1950
Quality so-so. I am not too sure of the speed of this track.
![sad1.gif](style_emoticons/default/sad1.gif)
Never did thank you for this one, P-ji! Lovely number. One of their earliest duets... Speed seems OK to me... Ashaji sang this one with a different sort of accent, don't know why... sort of aglicized accent...
Posted by: priya Sep 12 2005, 08:33 PM
Rom, Ur welcome. I have one more duet I think from that film but quality is bad and it is more romping and buffooning than singing. Are U interested?
Jay, me dumbo. I thot there were 2 videos. Did not realise it was one split with rar.
Ya I have divx but had uninstalled it hence the problem. Reinstalled and now it played fine. Thanks a ton.

Will ul them in a while. Was listening to them again and was rather surprised at Asha's voice in Baulama. Was she singing for some supposed 'mem' or a man or kya?
In the other one it is her usual voice but the file quality is atrocious.
Asha had no solos in the movie but there was that fantastic hit song madhur pyaar ka taar (duet with Arun Kumar Mukherji).
Who was the heroine in this movie?
Posted by: rom Sep 12 2005, 10:09 PM
Some Rajani was the heroine, it seems...
Yes, Ashaji used kind of a firang accent in Aati Hei Yaad Humko too... and there was this controversy about Ek Thhi Ladki song once... in that too she sang like that, if it was indeed her...
Strange. Perhaps she was influenced by the English movies she was fond of watching...
Posted by: priya Sep 12 2005, 10:15 PM
Nay. In ghar ke malik she is her own self. Must be the requirements of the scenes. Like when sh sings for IS Johar--if one just hears the audio one wonders what she is upto. When one watches the film one goes
BTW am uling the songs in my rare songs thread on this forum.

P, thats like a chorus kind of song that is played when titles are displayed on screen. It's diff than the phoolon tumhe pata hai. Thats where many singers are singing to I couldnt tell if Asha ji was among them. May be you can tell me.
