Here is an audio clip of Antara Chowdhary singing "BEET JAT BARKHA RUT PIYA NA AYE RI" on DD.
The music is most probably by Salil Chowdhary. I am trying to hunt for other songs of this particular program which had a few Bengali artists. I clearly remember one of the songs went... ARE SUN MERE MAZI JARA DHEERE NAIYYA TO CHALAIYO...
Format : mp3 128 kbps 3:09
ENJOY.

Paresh,
Thanks for this song... Just vaguely remember seeing this on DD (CPC Production
). Yeah it was composed by Salilda for sure (If I'm not wrong, the program also featured an interview with him, between the songs
)
By the way, I also had to thank you for "Hai naya yeh mausam" by Kavita K !!! Never saw it on TV, but I've heard your clip umpteen times. Very sweet song indeed

You are most welcome yaar Danny!

Paresh,
I missed out on this, cd you please upload again? This is a traditional bandish taught to students learning Raag Desh, so I doubt this is Salilda's composition....

Dear Bibhas,
I have no idea why you assumed that Salilda is incapable of composing a raag-based song ! If you listen to his numerous hindi/bengali/malayalam/tamil etc... songs you will find that his melody was often raag-based. His other melody base was folk music of India (due to his IPTA backgrund).
He had frequently used Bhairavi, Kalavati,Desh,Behag,Vasant,Hansadhwani etc.
In 1990, he composed "Amono saghana borosaay tumi kano ele naa" (based on Desh) with wonderfully rich multiple violin orchestration and "beet jaa" is the hindi version of that song.

Dear Rishi,
I certainly did not mean to imply that Salilda was incapable of a composition as sweet as this one, I only meant to say that this composition has been around since before Salilda's days and is a traditional Desh bandish taught to students of hindustani classical music.
