Pradeep, U once calculated on Dharmvirji querying the amt of bandwidth used when listening to HF radio if streaming is at 24 kbs. It wasn't a very high amt per hour.
But the other day when I tried DJing i noticed figures racing on my winamp screen. As I said before I do not know the maths of it all but tho I was streaming at 24 kbs it seemed to me that winamp was saying I had sent out something like 30 mb in 14 mins or so. The tracks I was playing were 128 kbs. Is there a diff when U DJ and when U listen? But even at 128 kbs I do not understand 30 for 11 mins. Bigger than the file sizes na?
Can U or BJ or some kind genius tell me what how much bandwidth is used streaming for 1 hr. Whether the original file br affects the bandwidth irrespective of streaming rate?
Thanks in advance.

Priya.
i think it should be calculated like this.
Bandwidth utilized = 24 kilobits per second X No. of user
May be pradeep ji will correct me if i m wrong !!

Don't give her accurate figures!
When she was a guest in my last program, the server broke down! 24 listeners and 18 in the chat room!

Priya, how can you be able to send 30mb in 14 mins? It must be 3 MB per 14 mins. The amount transferred will be in bits. 8 bits make a byte. Hence at 24kilobits per second... you have transferred 3kilobytes per second.
3kb = 1 sec
180kb = 1 min
2520kb = 14 mins .... approx 2.5 MB
Even if you play a 128kbps the amount that is transferred depends on the encoder setting you've set. If you have set 24kbps.. the bytes transferred will be like explained above.
Hope that helps. Lemme get back to work.

Vikram, that would be the server's bandwidth. Listeners are connected via the server and not to the DJ's stream directly.

Ok thanks Pradeep. That's a load off my mind.
Mere ko yeh bits, bytes, kilobyes, megabytes kuch samajh mein nahin aate.
