Hi friends!

This thread is devoted to Old Pakistani film songs from my collection.
I am starting it with a lovely duet song ( requested by Ummer in Nasim Begum thread), "Baadlon mein chhup raha hai chaand kyon", its from film 'Ik Tera Sahara' (1963) Music by Master Inayat Hissain.

Have you got Lawein Tor Nibawan from "Lachhi"?? Or "Desan Da Raja" frm Kartar Singh. Inaam ek gaana mein bahut waqt ke liye doond raha hoon woh gaana yeh hai:

Haan ji Inaam bhai - Rahmat waalon ke paas list hai. They say that they have 8 or 9 of the songs from the list and they will get the rest, they are sending the list to other collectors so Inshallah we should get at least some rare gems from them.

I have all the songs of Yakke Wali on VCD, but as I mentioned earlier I cant rip them off , they dont play on my computer DVD player, only on regular DVD player

Thanks for this track Inaam bhai - have you uploaded this before? I downloaded it because I didn't recognise the title and didn't think I had it, but when I heard it it sounds very familiar and I'm not sure where I would have heard it before. In any case, it is a great song - I really love Pakistani film music from around this time.

On request of friends, I am uploading here the complete songs of Pakistani movie ‘Umrao Jan Ada’ (1972), It was a big musical hit of its time. Music director was Nisar Bzami, lyrics penned by Saifud din Saif. Runa Laila, who was a new singer at that time, sang all the songs except one, the superhit ‘Aakhri Geet Sunane Ke Liye Aaye Hain’ which was sung by Madam Noor Jehan. According to music director, the best song of the film was ‘Kaate na kate re ratiyaan’ by Runa Laila. I am fully agree with Bazmi Sahab, this is such a lovely song and very well sung by Runa. I am starting my uploads by this song. Hope you will enjoy!

BTW Inaam, apart from Noor Jehan I have heard little Pakistani music. But whatever I have heard I love semi-classical songs from Pakistan. If you have a collection of more such songs do upload them at your convenience. There can be a whole thread on them.

maane na beri balma is a superb song. The dance by the three nautch girls is awesome.

kaate na katay re is an essential chanteuse performance at musical/dance parties these days.

When this film was released there was a marsiya by Runa Laila at the end of the film.
After strongs protests the marsiya was removed from the film.
The objection was to the words: "paas beta he na shauhar ye qayamat dekho".
The similarity portrayed by these words between the supposed situations of the revered historical religious figure and the ill-reputed poetess of this marsiya was offensive to the objecting muslims of Pakistan.
The Pakistani film version of the novel, umraojan ada, had diverted extremely from the original storyline. marsiya-khwani and naweesi, however, was an integral part of the protagonist of the novel, and the last scene of the film looks incomplete without it.
Even the Rekha version has a beautiful marsiya as the background score to the migration scene. wish i could get my hands on it.

btw it is totally by chance that i find myself writing about marsiya in the month of Moharram.

Anyway, the marsiya by Runa Laila is very hard to find. The scene almost impossible to find in the film.
